The Fannin County and East Polk area is home to many helpful resources for those in need of assistance; however, those resources also need help themselves from time to time.

Following is a list that includes resources in the area, where and when to receive help from them and how to help them out:

•Copper Basin Crisis Center, boxes including groceries, produce and hygiene products are distributed the fourth Monday of each month from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. but may be available upon request on Monday’s and Tuesday’s from 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.; the center would benefit from donations of canned meat and soups (pop-top), flour, sugar, cereal, cleaning supplies, diapers (size four and five) and baby wipes; they are located at 5260 Hwy 64 in Copperhill; the center is reachable at 423-496-7977.

•Copper Basin Elementary School’s Snack Pack Program, food items are provided to Copper Basin Elementary students; the program is in need of pop tarts, cereal cups, packaged oatmeal, macaroni and cheese cups, Chef Boyardee meals, fruit cups, Kool-Aid Jammers, Little Hug Fruit Barrels, and other snacks for children; donations or a request of needs may be made by calling the school at 423-496-3271, visiting the school during regular hours or emailing Gerome Smith at gsmith@polkcountyschools.com.

•Fannin County Family Connection, the food pantry is open Monday through Thursday from 10 a.m. to noon and 1 p.m. to 3 p.m.; the pantry is in need of canned fruits and vegetables as well as monetary donations; they are located at 501 Industrial Park in Blue Ridge and may be reached by calling 706-632-6063.

•First Fruits of The Ridge, the group provides meals to those in need and boxes of food, produce and hygiene products as well as Christian literature and prayer every Saturday from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at The Ridge Church, 960 Millholland Rd., Mineral Bluff; hot meals to-go are distributed at Copper Basin Crisis Center every Monday from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.; they are in need of non-perishable food items, toiletries and monetary donations; they are reachable by phone at 706-258-2330 or email info@theridge.cc.

•Good Samaritans of Fannin County, the organization provides financial services to those in need; they are in need of monetary donations; they can be reached through their website goodsamfc.com.

•Her Hope Pregnancy Center, the center offers free pregnancy tests, decision counseling, parenting education and baby resources for free to women; they are in need of Pack and Plays, diapers, wipes, baby formula, baby wash and shampoo, diaper cream and vitamins; monetary donations are also needed; donations may be made by calling 706-946-9477, emailing herhopepc@gmail.com, or send gifts to Her Hope Pregnancy Center, P.O. Box 2068 Blue Ridge, Georgia 30513; they are located at 130 Tammen Dr. Apt. 3 in Blue Ridge.

•Snack in a Backpack, the organization provides meals to Fannin County School students in need; shelf stable milk, juice, cans of protein rich meat, cereals, oatmeal and nutrient rich granola and fruit bars as well as monetary donations are needed and may be made by calling 706-851-8174 or visiting https://donorbox.org/snackinabackpack-org.

•We Are Polk County, the group provides food, meals and hygiene products to Polk County residents in need; they are in need of monetary and food donations; they are reachable by calling a volunteer: Holly Stroud at 423-299-9057, Ryan Quales at 423-715-0070, Elois Ledford at 423-599-0656 or Robby Hatcher at 423-338-4527.
