Moratorium placed on special alcohol licenses

Everyone was all smiles  to see Post One Commissioner Johnny Scearce in his chair for the first time at the Fannin County Board of Commissioners regular meeting Wednesday, May 25, in which a moratorium regarding the issuance of any Special Event License for alcoholic beverages was debated.

In some capacity since 1999, Robin Davenport has served the Mineral Springs Center (MSC) and its people, and now, Davenport has taken the reigns as director of the center.

School land buy just short of $10 million

“Of all the time I’ve been on the school board, this is the best day,” said Fannin County Board of Education member Lewis DeWesse in reference to the long awaited purchase of land adjacent to Fannin County High School (FCHS). The school board unanimously approved the purchase of 159.

The Humane Society of Blue Ridge cat of the week is Lew. This one-year-old male tuxedo is the real deal! Lew is playful, friendly and as cute as can be. He loves people and gets along famously with other felines. Lew is neutered, microchipped and current on his vaccinations, so he is ready for his furever family.
