Copper Basin offense not enough against Whitwell

Three hundred and sixty two yards of total offense was not enough for Copper Basin Friday, October 22, when they traveled to Whitwell to take on the Tigers.

Fannin tops Chattooga to lead region

The Fannin County Rebel football team left no doubt who the number one team in AA Region 7 is Friday, October 22, when they hosted the Chattooga Indians in front of a packed home crowd. Both Fannin and Chattooga went into the game undefeated in region play, with the Indians 4-0 and Fannin 3-0.

Lady Rebels top Dawson County

The Fannin County Lady Rebels flag football team hosted the Dawson County Lady Tigers on a cool morning Saturday, October 23. The match-up was the semi-final round of the playoffs as the winner of the contest advanced to play Lumpkin County in the Super Bowl this weekend.

The announcement came in conjunction with Jan Hackett’s retirement announcement at the chamber board of directors meeting Wednesday, October 20. Our good friend and long-time columnist for The News Observer, Dale Dyer, passed away Saturday afternoon, October 23. Dale wrote weekly for over 20 years, chronicling his life experiences and his many efforts to maintain the history of Fannin County.
