William Cochran

William Gary Cochran III, age 40, of Ellijay, Georgia, passed Friday, May 20, 2022.

William was born October 21, 1981, in Atlanta, Georgia, to his parents William Gary Cochran Jr., and Julia Huff Lund.

William was a member of the First Baptist Church of Ellijay.  William was very active in coaching kids baseball and being an announcer.  William was also the Gilmer Booster Club treasurer, a member of the Alpha Omega Fraternity, a member of the youth choir and handbells, a member of the Gilmer High School Band and a certified firefighter. William was preceded in death by his grandparents; G.L. Huff Jr., (Ruth Bennett Huff); uncle G.L. Huff III (Sonny).

William is survived by his wife of 17 years, Rachel Cochran, of Ellijay; sons, Bryson Curtis Watkins, of Ellijay, William Grant Cochran, of Ellijay, and Cooper Eli Cochran, of Ellijay; mother and stepfather Julia and Mike Lund, of Ellijay; brother Mathew Levi Cochran, of Blue Ridge; sister Deanna Hall, of Peachtree, North Carolina; father and stepmother Gary and Cheri Cochran, of Blue Ridge; grandparents William Gary Sr., and Dixie Cochran, of Blue Ridge.

The family received friends Sunday, May 29, 2022, at the funeral home from 12 p.m. to 7 p.m.  A celebration of life will be held Monday, May 30, 2022, at 11 a.m. at the First Baptist Church of Ellijay with Rev. David Henson, Rev. Richard Robertson and Mr. Ben Arp officiating.  Jason Jones, Mark Teague, Brent Berry, Russell Gheesling, Jeb Arp, Mathew Newton, Levi Cochran and Jacob Wainwright will be serving as pallbearers. His baseball family will be serving as honorary pallbearers. A private family graveside service was held with Rev. Sid Webb officiating.
