Tip Cornett

Fred “Tip” Cornett, age 94, of Blue Ridge, passed away, Sunday, August 28, 2022, at his home.

He was born January 16, 1928, in Blue Ridge to the late Garner James Cornett and Eula Mae Pless.

Tip was preceded in death by his parents; and siblings, Ruth Taylor, William Cornett, Ed Cornett, and William “Sock” Cornett.

Tip is survived by his wife, Evalee Stanley Cornett; daughter and son-in-law, Connie Sue and Stephen Reid McFarland; son, Ronnie Cornett; grandchildren, Tina Murphy, Timothy McFarland, Melissa Stampler, and Marshall Cornett; ten great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Wednesday, August 31, 2022, at 2 p.m. from the Akins-Cobb Blue Ridge Chapel with Min. Butch Jones officiating. Congregational music was led by Vance Ingle. Interment followed in the Stanley Church of Christ Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Timothy McFarland, Marshall Cornett, David Murphy, Junior Cornett, Jeff Rogers, and Avery Hughes. Honorary pallbearers were Mike Jacobs, David Gray, and Jack Jones.
