Richard Jerrel Peacock Jr., age 58, of Morganton, Georgia, peacefully entered into the presence of The Lord, September 13, 2022.

Richard was born  October 10, 1963, in Marietta, Georgia, to Richard Jerrel Peacock Sr., and Becky Rhoades Belt.

He grew up and attended high school there before relocating to Morganton where he lived the remainder of his life.

Richard was ordained a pastor in 2006 and lovingly tended the flock which God gave him at Tilley Bend Baptist Church in Morganton. It was during this time Richard heard the call of God on his life to take The Gospel of Christ into jails and prisons, which eventually led him to full time prison missionary work with Rock of Ages Ministries in 2012.  While with Rock of Ages,  Richard served as Georgia Revival Team Member, Georgia Revival Team Coordinator, and up until his death he was gladly and humbly serving as Georgia State Representative. He loved his time with Rock of Ages.

One of Richard’s greatest desires was to be an effective street preacher.  He looked forward to every opportunity he was able to be out preaching The Gospel and was passionate about leading lost souls to Jesus. He remained as active as possible in street preaching, while undergoing extremely difficult cancer treatments. Although he could be found preaching in many locations, his favorite area was in McCaysville at the Georgia Tennessee state line, where he waited excitedly for the tourist train that ran through regularly, faithfully preaching at “his spot” for many years, often with his wife and sons serving alongside him.

Richard was a faithful member of Faith Baptist Church, and his bold, loving presence will be extremely missed, and the impact his Christianity had on his community will never be forgotten.  He was, and will remain, revered and loved by all who truly knew him.

Surviving Richard are his loving and faithful wife of 30 years, Janna Ford Peacock, who was also his best friend and co-laborer  in the mission field; their two loving sons, Devan Peacock and Derrick Peacock, both of the home; parents, Becky (David) Belt, of Morganton, and Richard J. Peacock Sr., (Laurel); his sister, Sandra Jenkins (Jerry) of Dallas, Georgia; a step sister, Anita York; one granddaughter, Rosalyn Perry; along with many other relatives and friends. While we know Richard has received his reward of eternal life with The Lord he so faithfully served, his presence in the lives of his wife, children, parents, and others will be severely missed.

Richard’s funeral service was held Saturday, September 17, 2022, at 1 p.m. at Faith Baptist Church with Pastor Ronny Crisp, Dr. Terry Ellis and the Rev. Emory Alexander officiating.

Special music was presented by Ariel Philo and Pastor Chris Rumfelt.

Pallbearers were Jerry Jenkins, Chris Johnson, Greg Belt, Pastor Cameron Kennison, Pastor Ed Philo, and Charles Fish.  Honorary Pallbearers were Ken Stanford, Phil Keeter, and Pastors Jerry Knight, Mike Gay, Ed Bolle and Bill Anderson.

Visitation with family was from 12 until 1 p.m. at the Faith Baptist Church with the service starting immediately afterwards. Burial was in the Tilley Bend Baptist Church Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations are welcome to Rock of Ages Ministries, Printing Dept., P.O. Box 2308, Cleveland, Tennessee 37320 or online at www.roapm.com
