Rev. Lloyd Everette Deal, age 94, went home to be with the Lord Monday, March 28, 2022.

Lloyd was born March 4, 1928, in McCaysville to the late George Deal and Stella Cochran Deal. He served his country in the United States Army during World War II. Lloyd was member of Copperhill Lodge #656 F & AM. He retired after 38 years as a crane operator with the Tennessee Copper Company.

Lloyd was well known throughout the community for his faith in the Lord. He was ordained as a deacon September 16, 1956, and October 2, 1960, he was ordained as a minister of the gospel. Lloyd served as pastor of Grassy Creek Baptist Church, Mt. View Baptist Church, and Mt. Harmony Baptist Church, and then, he would serve for 51 years as pastor at Mt. Zion Baptist Church.

Lloyd saw many come to the faith through his ministry, including baptizing hundreds of people throughout the years. Along with his love for the church, he loved to hunt, ride horseback, raise farm animals, garden and camp, especially on top of Frog Mountain. As a part of one of the larger families in the area, Lloyd displayed his great love for all of his family.

Lloyd was preceded in death by his parents, George and Stella Deal; loving wife of 70 years, Rhoda Ann Locke Deal; children, Roger Deal, Conrad Deal, Martha Deal, Cecil Deal and William George Deal; sisters, Josie Gilbert, Irene Barnes and Ruby Ensley; brothers, Hayden Deal, Clyde Deal and an infant brother; son-in-law, Bug Talley; and daughters-in-law, Debra Deal and Margaret Deal.

He is survived by his children and their spouses, Mary Louise Talley, Leroy Deal, Kathleen and Rev. Jimmy Payne, Randy and Sharon Deal, Marilyn and Rev. Gerald Payne, Carlton and Rita Deal, Richard and Stacey Deal, and Alex and Angie Deal; daughters-in-law, Dora Jean Cantrell and Glenda Deal; grandchildren and their spouses, Matthew Deal, Jesse and Stefanie Deal, Adam and Sharron Deal, Cory and Mary Beth Deal, Michele Grimes, Connie Jo and Clay Gourley, Dawn Ballew, Aaron Talley, Tina and Neal Murphy, Tessa Deal, Trevis Deal, Carla and Brandon Ballew, Ivy and Sean Payne, Daniel and Nicole Deal, Alexis and Nick Jones, Alisah Deal, Amanda and Daniel West and Lloyd Payne; great-grandchildren and their spouses, Levi Deal, Justin Deal, Whitney Deal, Trent Deal, Chase Deal, Clint Deal, Sadie Deal, Easton Deal, Hayden Deal, Kendra Deal, Maleah Deal, Lincoln Deal, Kenzlie Ballew, Kloie Ballew, Carlie Ballew, Caylie Ballew, Anna West, Zeb West, Shelby and Josh Loudermilk, Anthony and Victoria Hayes, Wil and Taylor Gourley, Marshal Gourley, Jolay Gourley, Bradley Ballew, Baylee Ballew, Hudson Murphy, Lawson Murphy and Evee Murphy; and great-great-grandchildren, Conrad Loudermilk, Cortlan Junior Loudermilk and William Gourley.

Funeral services were conducted Thursday, March 31, 2022 at 2 p.m. from Mt. Zion (Tumbling Creek) Baptist Church with Rev. Billy Cantrell, Rev. Clifton Patterson and Rev. Doyle Davis officiating. Music was provided by Levi Deal, Alex and Angie Deal and Ronald and Linda Hyde.

Interment followed in the Mt. Zion (Tumbling Creek) Baptist Church Cemetery with the following gentlemen serving as pallbearers: Jessie Deal, Cory Deal, Aaron Talley, Matthew Deal, Daniel Deal and Trevis Deal. The family requested all the preachers in the area to serve as honorary pallbearers.

The family received friends at the funeral home Wednesday, March 30, 2022, after 4 p.m.
