Raymond Millard Allen, age 91 of the Tumbling Creek community, passed away Sunday, January 1, 2023, at Fannin Regional Hospital in Blue Ridge.

He was born July 12, 1931, in Copperhill, to the late Millard Fillmore Allen and Mary Katherine Walden Allen.

Raymond served in the United States Army during the Korean War and spent time in both Austria and Germany. Later, he retired from the Tennessee Chemical Company where he worked as a repairman. He attended Mt. Zion Baptist Church.

Raymond was preceded in death by his parents, siblings, and great-granddaughter, Eden Lily Uhlik.

He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Rachel Locke Allen of Copperhill; son and daughter-in-law, Bryan and Joyce Allen of Copperhill; daughters and son-in-law, Kimberley Allen of Copperhill and Karen and Michael Graves of Hiawassee Dam; grandchildren and their spouses, Brendan Allen and Katie Worley, Jacob and Angela Allen, Zackery and Ivy Reid, Mary Beth and Cory Deal, Hayley and A.J. Uhlik, and Connor and Kaylee Ledford; and great-grandchildren, Hosanna Allen, Rosalie Allen, Sadie Deal, Easton Deal, Eliza Grace Uhlik, Brantlee Ledford, Gunner Allen, River Allen, Hayden Reid, Kason Reid, Lakelan Reid, and Stella Reid.

Funeral services were held Wednesday, January 4, 2023, at 12 p.m. from the Mt. Zion Baptist Church with the Rev. Doyle Davis and the Rev. Clifton Patterson officiating. Music was provided by Alex and Angie Deal and Kenny and Kim O’Neal.

Military honors were provided by the North Georgia Honor Guard. Interment followed in the church cemetery. Pallbearers were Brendan Allen, Jacob Allen, Zackery Reid, Connor Ledford, Cory Deal, and A.J. Uhlik. Honorary pallbearers were Michael Graves, Ronnie O’Neal, and David Rymer. The family visited with friends at the funeral home Tuesday evening from 5 p.m. until 9 p.m.
