Patsy Messer

Mrs. Patsy Jane Foster Messer, age 74, of Blue Ridge, passed away Saturday, November 19, 2022.

She was born December 28, 1947, in Blue Ridge, to the late Robert Thomas Foster and Bertha Garland Foster.

Patsy loved the Lord and attended the McCaysville Gospel Tabernacle. She retired from Levi Strauss after a long career there as a seamstress. She enjoyed fishing, sewing, and quilting. She was an avid collector of furniture, dolls, and various forms of glassware.

Along with her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Charles Benny Messer; a daughter, Tammy Sue Anderson; and a brother, Harold Robert Foster.

She is survived by her daughter, Melissa Michelle Chapman; brothers, Kenny (Becky) Foster and Donnie (Martha Lee) Foster; sister, Mary Ellen (Leonard) Hunter; grandchildren, Michael Messer, Josh Chapman, Jesse Chapman, and Matthew Chapman; and a great-grandchild, Micah Messer.

Funeral services were conducted Wednesday, November 23, 2022 at 2 p.m. from the Akins-Cobb Blue Ridge Chapel with the Rev. Leonard Hunter officiating.

Music was provided by the Helping Hand Singers. Interment followed the service in the Macedonia Church of Christ Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Josh Chapman, Jesse Chapman, Matthew Chapman, Micah Messer, Kenny Foster, and Randy Foster. James Sevcech was selected as an honorary pallbearer.
