Mrs. Leota “Marlene” Adkins, age 90, of Copperhill, passed away February 24, 2022, at her residence.

She was born in Coeburn, Virginia, to the late John D. and Orpha Sue Powers Stallard. During her high school days, she was a talented basketball player and continued her love of sports her entire life. She loved to travel the country and enjoyed attending the Church of God Harris Chapel in Murphy, North Carolina. Marlene was the last of her 10 siblings.

Survivors include her children and their spouses, Linda and Fritz Gerth, of Wellington, Alabama, Larry and Donna Adkins, of Taft, Tennessee, Leslie and Marsha Adkins, of Dalton, Georgia, Lisa Crowley Bennett, of Copperhill and Brian and Cherie Adkins, of Ypsilanti, Michigan; grandchildren, Jeremy Stover, Joddie, Ryan and Christopher Adkins, Danielle Adkins, Dusty McLaury, Andrew Adkins, Marissa Adkins, Morgan Adkins, Robert Adkins, Stephanie Crowley, Sarah Hedden, James Bennett, Meghan McNerney and Ashleigh Adkins; and great-grandchildren, Jacob Stover, Kayla Stover, Austin Adkins, Alexandra Adkins, Matthew Adkins, David Adkins, Demarcus Adkins, Deandre Adkins, Jayden Adkins, Anthony Adkins, Everley Adkins, Damon Adkins, Dakota Adkins, Brooke Bayshore, Carson Bayshore, Liam Crowley, Olivia DeLoy, Noah DeLoy, Sophia DeLoy and Baker Bennett.

Funeral services will be conducted Saturday, March 5, 2022 at noon. from the Akins-Cobb Chapel with Pastor Jimmy Hall officiating.  Interment will follow in the Copper Ridge Memory Gardens.  The family will receive friends at the funeral home Friday, March 4, 2022, from 5 p.m. until 9 p.m.
