JR Dotson

Calvin JR Dotson, age 88, of Epworth, passed away Friday, February 25, 2022, at Fannin Regional Hospital.

He was born August 4, 1933, in Knoxville, Tennessee, to late Ronnie Zollie Dotson and Rillie Rittenhouse Dotson. JR worked at Piggly Wiggly from 1968 until 2000 as a meat cutter and then moved into management. He attended First Baptist Church of Epworth.  JR loved baseball and football. He especially enjoyed the Braves and was a Tennessee Fan. JR coached little league baseball. He served in the Air Force during the Korean Era. JR was the last of nine children.

Survivors are his wife of 53 years, Dianna Dotson, of Epworth; children, Mark Dotson (Laurie), of Chattanooga, Tennessee, Brian Dotson, of Chattanooga, Kevin Dotson (Beverly), of Blue Ridge, and Lorie Schmitz (Matt), of Atlanta; grandchildren, Cameron Dotson, Bridget Dotson, Caleb Dotson, Kenan Dotson, Matthew Schmitz and Scarlett Schmitz; great-grandchildren, Kayleigh Dotson and Delilah Monroe; a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends also survive.

Funeral Services were conducted Tuesday, March 1, 2022, at 2 p.m. from the Akins-Cobb Blue Ridge Chapel with Rev. Dr. Tom Jordan officiating. Music was by Edward Vest. Interment followed in the Epworth First Baptist Church Cemetery.  Military Honors were provided by the North Georgia Honor Guard.
