Johnnie Watkins

Mrs. Johnnie Lee Watkins, age 84, of McCaysville, passed away December 4, 2019, in the Chatuge Regional Nursing Home. Born in Fannin County, she was the daughter of the late Carl Clifford and Nona Margaret Cobb Crawford. She worked as a Machine Operator for both Van Raalte and Shaw Industries. Mrs. Watkins was also a member of the Kingtown Baptist Church. Also preceding her in death was three brothers, Brownie Crawford, Bob Crawford and Jack Crawford. 

Survivors include her husband, Myles Joe Watkins; son and daughter-in-law, Bryan and Kim Watkins of Hartwell, Georgia; brothers, Carl “Pete” Crawford of Nashville, Tennessee, Gene Crawford of Morganton, Joe Crawford of Toccoa, Georgia and Jim Crawford of Blue Ridge; sister, Doris Olnick of Blue Ridge; grandchildren, Jessica Watkins, Holly Cobb, Amanda Wesp and Taylor Gunter; and great grandchildren, Jenna Wesp, Logan Cobb and Chelsea Cobb.

Funeral services were conducted Saturday, December 7, 2019, from the Akins Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Delmar Davenport officiating. Eulogies were provided by Bryan Watkins and Gene Crawford. 

Interment followed in the Sugar Creek Baptist Church Cemetery with the following gentlemen serving as pallbearers: Gary Crawford, Greg Crawford, Kevin Watkins, Wayne Watkins, Randall Watkins, Mike Grindstaff and Len Crawford. Serving as honorary pallbearers were Perry Crawford, Brett Crawford and Kevin Bowers. Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of your choice.
