Joann Barrett

Mrs. Joann Barrett, age 80, of Morganton, passed away at her home Tuesday, January 28, 2020. She was born in Morganton November 12, 1939, to the late Earl McDaris and Ethel Seabolt McDaris. She worked as a seamstress for Levi Strauss. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Frederick R. Barrett; and her infant son, Charles Raymond Barrett.

She is survived by her children and their spouses, Jeff and Amanda Barrett of Mineral Bluff and Beverly and Greg Rogers of Blue Ridge; grandchildren, Alicia Rose, Jade Underwood and Travis Barrett; great-grandchildren, Kennedi Rose and Abigail Rose; siblings, David McDaris, Wade McDaris, Cora Stewart, Jeannette Head and Evalee Bowers; and special friend, Laura Vesely. 

Funeral services were conducted Thursday, January 30, 2020, from the Akins Funeral Home of Blue Ridge chapel with the Rev. Tim Garrett officiating. Music was provided by Renee Watkins and Billy Brawley. 

Interment followed in the Concord Baptist Church cemetery. Pallbearers were Jeff Barrett, Jade Underwood, Scott Rose, Andrew McDaris, Ryan McDaris, Billy Brawley and Travis Barrett.
