James (Jim) Hill, 69, a resident of Blue Ridge, and former resident of Lingle, Wyoming, passed away July 20, after a battle with heart disease.

Jim inspired many young lives at Kingman Unified Schools as a U.S. history teacher and wrestling coach. He was passionate about horticulture and woodworking and enjoyed his time serving on the leadership board of the Smoky Mountain Foothills Chapter of United Marriage Encounter in North Georgia. He will be remembered for his steady and kind nature.

He was preceded in death by John and Mary Hill; and brother John David Hill.

He is survived by his wife, Laurie (Waguespack) Hill; son, Christopher Hill; stepdaughters Holly (Hill) Floyd, Ansley Hill, Kaylin (Hill) Pannell; step grandchildren, Judah and Levi Floyd; sister, Judy (Hill) Hunter; former wife Dorothy (Dot) Hill, and many nieces and nephews.

A celebration of life will be held September 24, from 2p.m. until 4 p.m.  at the Hinton Center in Hayesville, North Carolina.
