Jewell Cole

Mr. Jewell Cole, age 85, of Morganton, passed away Sunday evening in Blairsville.

He was born November 11, 1937, in Culberson, North Carolina, the son of the Late Alvah and Orie Bell Cole.

He worked at the copper company for 33 years as a welder in the railroad department and later retired from the City Of Morganton Water Department.

Jewell enjoyed hunting, fishing, motorcycles, go-carts, and gardening.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Jean Rogers Cole; brothers, Dewey and Arvil Cole, a sister, Wilma McDaris, and a great-granddaughter, Shayleigh Cole.

Survivors include children Lynn (Lynn), Cole, Michael (Debbie), Cole, Karen (Robert) Alderson, and Beverly (Wayne) Harper; sister Linda (Mark) Golden; nine grand-children, grandchildren, Jennifer (Duane)Jones, Nathan (Thomasina) Alderson, Brent (Jennifer) Cole, Jason Cole, Christopher (Lauren) Alderson, Whitney (Jordan) Burger, Jacob (Breane) Harper, Krissa (Colton) Cole, and Bristol Harper, sixteen great-grandchildren also survive.

Funeral services were held Sunday, November 27, 2022, at 2 p.m. from the Chapel of the Henry-Cochran Funeral Home. Interment  followed  in Shady Grove Baptist Church Cemetery in Culberson.

The following gentlemen served as pallbearers, Nathan Alderson, Chris Alderson, Brent Cole, Duane Jones, Jacob Harper, Colton Cole. Honorary pallbearers Troy McDaris and Dustin Golden.
