James F McCrickard, age 81, of Mineral Bluff, passed away December 4, 2019, at Fannin Regional Hospital. James was born July 19, 1938, in Elkhorn, West Virginia, to the late Aubry McCrickard and Mamie Yates McCrickard. A member of the Baptist faith, he was preceded in death by grandson, Eric Jordan; and three siblings.
James spent 27 years in the United States Air Force retiring as a Senior Master Sergeant. His duties through the years included radio operator and repairs, electronics, computer maintenance and repair. During his years of services he spent time in Japan, Thule Greenland, Okinawa, Germany and several stateside posts. After retiring he attended Hillsbourgh Community College in Tampa, Florida, receiving an associates degree in architecture design. James worked for the city of Tampa for the next 13 years as plans examiner and retired from the city and moved to the beautiful North Georgia mountains to begin designing and building his dream home with his wife Mona. They spent 51 wonderful years together working side by side.
Survivors include his wife, Ramona (Mona) McCrickard; daughters, Leslie Jordan, Laurie (Don) Hines, Gina McCrickard, Patricia (David) Steele and Stephanie (Jeff) Walter; son, James McCrickard Jr. (Jim-Jim); five grandchildren and three great-grand children also survive.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, December 14, 2019, from the chapel of Henry-Cochran Funeral Home of Blue Ridge with the Dr. Tom Jordan officiating. Interment will follow at Georgia National Cemetery in Canton, Georgia, Monday, December 16, 2019, at 1 pm.
The family will receive friends at the Henry-Cochran Funeral Home of Blue Ridge, Saturday, December 14, 2019, from 12 p.m. to 2 p.m.
