James L. Davenport, age 71, of Blue Ridge, passed away Friday, October 11, 2019, in Blairsville. Mr. Davenport was born May 14, 1948, in Ellijay, Georgia, to Leamen Davenport and Ethel Melton Davenport. Mr. Davenport attended Glen Hope Baptist Church and was preceded in death by his brother, Glen Coy Davenport; and his sister, Doris Davenport. He drove a truck for Atlanta Motor Lines, but was most known as the owner and operator of the BP Station on Main Street in Blue Ridge. He will be greatly missed by his loving family. 

Survivors include his wife of 48 years, Debra Davenport; father, Leamen Davenport; mother, Ethel Melton Davenport; daughters, Doris (Ed) St. Romain, April (Robert) Hatchett and Elizabeth Davenport Kline; son, Joshua (Heather) Davenport; brothers, Kennon Davenport and Clinton Davenport; sisters, Peggy Long and Aline Davenport; grandchildren, Jacob, Emily, Jessie, Sarah, Hailey, Caleb, Brac, Elisha, Samuel and Averi; and many nieces and nephews also survive. 

Funeral services were held Friday, October 18, 2019, at Glen Hope Church with Lamarr O’Neal and James Worley officiating. Music was by Kenny and Kim O’Neal. 

Interment was held at O’Zion Church Cemetery. Pallbearers were Edward St. Romain, Jacob Hatchett, Joshua Davenport, Robert Hatchett, Matthew Davenport, Mike Bowers and Craig O’Neal.
