James Carson

James R. Carson, age 83, passed away Saturday, May 28, 2022 at Wickshire Assisted Living in Canton, Georgia.

Mr. Carson was born in Etowah, Tennessee, October 29, 1938, to the late Rufus Shoemake Carson and the late Katy Woodall Carson.

He enlisted in the United States Army in 1959 and served valiantly until his honorable discharge in 1962. Later on, he went to work with Lockheed Martin until his retirement. He was a man that will be remembered for his remarkable sense of humor and his tremendous woodworking abilities. He also enjoyed gardening. Mr. Carson attended Epworth United Methodist Church. Along with his parents, he is preceded in death by his siblings and a son, Robert Carson.

He is survived by his loving wife, Gloria Ritchie Carson; son and daughterin-law, John and Cheryl Carson; grandchildren, Rachael, Joshua, Ashley, Ethan, Faith, Grace and Joseph; he is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, other family members and friends.

A graveside service was held to honor Mr. Carson’s life Friday, June 3, 2022, at Copper Ridge Memory Gardens at noon with Min. Keith Ritchie officiating. Military Honors were provided by the North Georgia Honor Guard.
