Mr. James Lowell Addison, age 71, of Epworth,  passed away October 4, 2022, in Asheville, North Carolina.

He was born in Ducktown to the late John Lowell and Faye Simonds Addison July 12, 1951.

James had worked for a number of years in security retiring from Wellstar Hospital. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Epworth. James enjoyed every aspect of the outdoors. He was an avid outdoorsman, enjoying hunting, fishing, riding through the mountains and canoeing on the waters. James also loved gardening with his mother and doing yard work. James loved reading and spending time with his family as they often gathered for eating and always having good times together. He will be remembered for always saying “I love you” when he was with his family.

He was proceeded in death by his parents; wife, Nadine Kellum Addison; daughter, Amber Lynn Addison; brother, Rick Addison; and brother-in-law, Richard Matthews.

Survivors include his sister, Margaret Matthews of McCaysville; daughters, Staci Mabrey and Amanda Phillips and husband, Jason; grandchildren, Harrison Phillips and Brennan and husband Jacob Berezinski; nieces and nephews, Shelley and Jimmy Allen, Stephen and Lisa Matthews, Sydni Addison, and Joshua and Sarah Addison; several great nieces and nephews; sister-in-law, Marni Addison; and a special companion and caregiver, Mary Kay Carlisle.

Memorial services to honor the life of James will be held Saturday, November 12, 2022, at 1 p.m. from the Akins-Cobb Blue Ridge Chapel with Dr. Tom Jordan officiating. Music will be provided by Jimmy Allen. The family will receive friends at the funeral prior to the service from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m.
