Greta Jones Dykes, 83, a resident of Cleveland, passed away Wednesday, November 13, 2019, in a local healthcare facility. She was born in Copperhill. She was a graduate of Tennessee Wesleyan University and a retiree of the Bradley County school system. She was a member of Wesley United Methodist Church. She enjoyed sewing, being a seamstress and doing needlework.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Cecil W. Jones and Geneva Jewel Pack Jones.
She is survived by her husband, Oscar Gilbert Dykes Jr.; son, Kenneth Dale Dykes Sr. of Cleveland; grandsons, Dale Dykes and Austin T. Dykes, both of Cleveland; and two sisters, Mary Ann Williams of White, Georgia and Cecilia Lilly of Chattanooga, Tennessee.
A celebration of her life was held Friday, November 15, 2019, at Wesley Memorial United Methodist Church in Cleveland, with the Rev. Chris Rouse officiating. Interment followed in Sunset Memorial Gardens.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Wesley Memorial United Methodist Church food pantry.
