Lon Gerald Dockrey, age 77, of Epworth, passed away Thursday, August 4, 2022 at his home.

He was born on October 13, 1944, in Epworth to the late Lon Junior Dockrey and Beulah Mae Nichols Dockrey.

Gerald worked for twenty-two years at Tennessee Chemical Company.

He is preceded in death by his parents; step-mother, Cora Mae Dockrey; son-in-law, Scott R. Hamilton; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Albert and Hassie Dillard; and brother-in-law, Sam Dillard.

Gerald is survived by his wife, Nancy N. Dockrey; sons, Kevin (Coleen) Dockrey and Karl Dockrey; daughters, Karen Hamilton and Kimberly (Brian) Dean; grandchildren, Kendra (Teddy) Cash, Kaby Hamilton, Elisha (Grayson) Jones, Heather Dockrey, Michael Dockrey, Christy Dockrey, Brittany Dockrey, Bridget Dockrey, Travis Queen, Elle Queen, Will Dean, Kassie Dean, Haley Elliot, Chris Kincannon; ten great-grandchildren; brothers, William (Nadine) Dockrey, James (Genevieve) Dockrey, Jerome (Robin) Dockrey; in-laws, Gary and Nancy Dillard, Lil Dillard, Susie and Roger Young, and Jerry Dillard; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins also survive.

Funeral services were held Sunday, August 8, 2022 at 2 p.m. from the Akins-Cobb Blue Ridge Chapel with the Rev. Randy Hooper officiating.

Interment followed in the Simonds Chapel Cemetery with the Rev. Scott Baugh officiating. Music was by the Caylor Family.

Pallbearers were Kevin Dockrey, Anthony Hughes, Billy Dockrey, Jeff Dockrey, Teddy Cash, Lee Dillard and Steven Whitlow. Honorary pallbearers were Karl Dockrey, Grayson Jones, Brian Dean, Tim Chancey, Allen Chancey and James McGill.
