Gene Owen, 86, passed away peacefully in his home in Blue Ridge, February 26, 2020. Gene was born in Canton, Georgia, January 19, 1934, to the late Lester and Virria Owen. 

Gene retired from General Motors. He was a family man and a devout Christian. Gene was a longtime member of Temple Baptist Church. He was an outdoorsman and found joy in fishing, hunting and being in the mountains. He loved to work with his hands and could often be found tinkering on a project or woodworking. Gene was a loving and faithful husband, loving father and doting Papa. He is going to be deeply missed by his family and friends. 

Left behind to cherish his memory are his beloved wife of 66 years, Sybil Owen; son, Danny Owen (Corry); daughter, Connie Loggins; grandchildren, Judy Parker (Dale) and Jordan Driver; six great-grandchildren; eight great-great-grandchildren; brother, Lamar Owen (Wanda); and many nieces, nephews and friends also survive. 

He was preceded in death by his granddaughter, Denise Smith; and siblings, James Owen and Ann Sims. 

A memorial service will be held Saturday, March 7, 2020, at 1 p.m. at Temple Baptist Church, 28 High Country Crossing, Morganton, with Roger Beck officiating. The family will receive friends from noon until 1 p.m. before the service at the church.

Arrangements for Mr. Owen have been entrusted to Woodstock Funeral Home in Woodstock, Georgia.
