Elwin Byers

Bryan Elwin Byers, age 61, of Murphy, North Carolina, passed away Thursday, December 1, 2022, at his residence.

He was born in Killeen, Texas, November 9, 1961.

Mr. Byers always placed his family first in his life, was devoted to them and his neighbors with a willingness to help even without reluctance. He was of the Baptist faith and enjoyed Beekeeping and gathering honey. Mr. Byers also owned and operated an excavation company for several years.

His father, Clark G. Byers, preceded him in death.

Survivors include his loving wife of 29 years, Tracy Caylor Byers; daughter, Kristin Gayle Byers; mother, Lilli Mae “Sue” Byers, and one brother, David Byers all of Culberson Community; a host of other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were conducted Monday, December 5, 2022 at 1 p.m. from the Akins-Cobb Blue Ridge Chapel with the Rev. Keith Mashburn officiating. Music was provided by Rebecca Mashburn. Interment followed in the Friendship #2 Baptist Church Cemetery with the following gentlemen serving as pallbearers: James Lawrence, Jeff Helton, George Mashburn, James Bryson, Jack Bryson and Rayburn Mason. Tommy Bell and Scott Caylor served as honorary pallbearers.
