Elaine Janet Queen Bruce, age 75, of Blue Ridge, passed away Wednesday, August 24, at Piedmont Hospital in Atlanta.

Elaine was born in Ducktown July 21, 1947, the daughter of the late Pearly Quince Queen and Louise Hooper Queen.

She was a member of Bethel Methodist Church and active in the Fannin County Homemakers Association. She was instrumental in setting up the original Harvest Sale in Blue Ridge and Fannin County. She enjoyed working with the arts and crafts hobbyists and at one time owned and ran a macrame and crafts shop in Morganton. Later in her career, Elaine would work in the Fannin County school food service and nutrition program; eventually going on to manage the lunchrooms at East Fannin, West Fannin, and Fannin Middle schools. In addition, Elaine enjoyed cooking for her family, traveling, and spending time with her grandchildren.

Survivors include her husband, Howell Bruce; sons, Howell (Howie) Bruce Jr., Kevin (Amy Cagle) Bruce; brothers, David Mark Queen and Lynn Lee (Angela) Queen; sister, Susan (William) Bozeman; grandchildren, Rachel Reagan Bruce and Collin Howell Bruce, Alexander James “A.J.” Bruce, and Quince Hamilton “Quin” Bruce.

Remembrance services were held, Saturday, September 10, 2022, at 11 a.m. at Henry-Cochran Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Tim Taylor officiating. Music was by Margaret Crawford and Tressa Ross.

The interment will be in the Hemptown Cemetery on the afternoon of Sunday, September 18.
