Carl Douglas “Doug” Gobble, age 69, of Turtletown, passed away Saturday, November 2, 2019, at the Life Care Center of Copper Basin. He was born June 30, 1950, in Polk County, to the late Henry Raymond Gobble Jr., and Mattie Lou Nari Gobble. Doug was a truck driver for Superior Trucking. He was an owner of Copper Basin Express. Doug was a member of Turtletown Baptist Church.
Survivors are his wife of 49 years, Marsha Gobble of Turtletown; sons, Michael Gobble (Althea) of Blue Ridge, Jody Gobble (Ermelleana) of Ellijay, Georgia, and Billy Gobble of Turtletown; sisters, Lou Ellen Rose (Dennis, deceased) of Turtletown, Marti Fowler (John) of Ducktown and Maria Mull (Mike) of Ducktown; sister-in-law, Greta Dalbeck (Gene); and two grandchildren, Victoria Ann Behrens and Jack Gobble also survive.
Funeral services were conducted Monday, November 4, 2019, from the Akins Funeral Home of Copperhill Chapel with the Rev. Ray Harper and the Rev. Luke Hall officiating. Music was provided by Janice Reid and Trissie Harper.
Interment followed in Crestlawn Cemetery. Pallbearers were Jack Gobble, Jeremy Hall, Daniel Hall, Chris Mull, Shad Fowler and Kenny Martin. Honorary Pallbearers were Mike Mull, Michael Rose, Johnny Gobble, Johnny Fowler, Charlie Thomas, Danny Johnson, Dustin Wright, Jeffrey Wright, Andy Odom, Ronnie Fowler, Sid Jory, Gerald “Polio” Hughes Sr., Local Teamsters Union #515, Life Care Center of Copper Basin, Tennessee, Home Health, Fannin Regional Hospital ICU, Dr. Allen Uhlik, Dr. Mahmood Siddiqui and Dr. Richard Tanner.
