Dorothy “Dot”  Jean Messer, age 79, of Blue Ridge, passed away Thursday, February 3, 2022.

Mrs. Messer was born  July 18, 1942, in Mineral Bluff, to the late Charles Arthur Clore and Lassie Ferguson Clore. She retired after a 28 year career as a certified nursing assistant from Blue Ridge Health Care. She was known for her love of everyone around her, especially her children, and never met a stranger. Dot enjoyed cooking, especially when her family gathered.

Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Claude William “Billy” Messer; an infant daughter, Freda Charlene Messer; a step-son, Tony Messer; and sisters, Rowena Flowers, Thelma Tipton, Regina Clore and Sadie Garland.

She is survived by her children, Randy and Sheila Clore, Donnie Price and  Ronnie Price, all of Blue Ridge, Sharon Ballew, of Atlanta, Georgia, Robbie Newton, Billy Joe and Amy Messer, of Blue Ridge,  Melinda and Les Dillard, of Ellijay, Georgia, Shonda and Rodney Kendall, and Amanda Messer and fiancee Denny Cook, all of Blue Ridge; a step-daughter, Joann Dockery, of Blairsville, Georgia; grandchildren, Angie Clore Whitt, Corissa Hembree, Aaron Price, Kayla Thomas, Brittany Ballew, Cody Ballew, Megan Newton, Tyler Ballew, Justin Newton, Haylie Newton, James Messer, Anna Messer, Kevin Dillard, Levi Dillard, Samantha Dillard, Cole Dillard, Zoey Kendall, Kiya Kendall and Chandler Messer; step-grandchildren, Angela Flowers, Tracey Gazaway and Anthony Messer; eight great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; a sister and brother-in-law, Radie and Leonard Ware, of Mineral Bluff; and a canine companion, Darla Messer.

Funeral services were held Sunday, February 6, 2022, at 2 p.m., from the Akins-Cobb Chapel with Dr. Roger Beck officiating. Interment followed in the Chastain Memorial Park Cemetery with the following gentlemen serving as pallbearers: Rodney Kendall, Justin Newton, Cody Ballew, Aaron Price, James Messer and Chandler Messer.
