Donna Stephens, 61, of Elberta, Alabama, left this world for her heavenly home June 20, 2022, following an extended illness.

Donna was born November 9, 1960, in Copperhill. She was loving, caring and compassionate. She will always be remembered for her contagious laugh that would brighten a room. A devoted mother of four who always put her children first, she was humble, kind and selfless.

Donna extended a helping hand to those in need. Her love of family gave her purpose. Her love of gardening and passion for flowers gave her peace. In her later years, her renewed faith in God and in finding the Summit Church community gave her strength and guidance. Donna was a member of their “Better Together Sisterhood.” It was with this group she found direction, support and friendship.

She is survived by the love of her life for more than 30 years, Pete Smith; her daughter, Ashley Stephens-McLean (George); son, Jeremy Smith; and daughter, Jesse Smith: six grandchildren, Leila, Lexie and Destiny Gray, Jordan, Kayleigh and Shawn McLean.

She was the youngest of six children and is survived by her sisters, Diane Marchetta (Frank), Sandra Mascia; and her brother, Ray Frasure (Judy).

She was preceded in death by her oldest daughter, Amy Melissa Gray; sisters, Kathy Frasure and Sherry Dickey.

Donna was loved and adored by many aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.

A memorial was held at Summit Church at Foley in Foley, Alabama, Saturday, June 25, 2022, at 10 a.m. A graveside service was held Monday, June 27, 2022, at Sugar Hill Cemetery, Highway 60, in Suches, Georgia, at 2 p.m.

Pete, together with Donna’s family, wishes to thank the Summit Church at Foley community for their many prayers and tremendous support before and during Donna’s illness. They also thank Darlene Johnson, who was there throughout Donna’s journey. Darlene’s love and kindness helped all of us more than words can express.

Donations can be made to Summit Church at Foley for the “Better Together Sisterhood.”
