Donald Jones

Donald E. Jones, 93, of Blue Ridge, passed away Saturday, June 4, 2022, at his home.

Donald was born May 20, 1929, in Miami, Florida, to the late Clarence Jones and the late Alma Jones.

A veteran of the U.S. Navy, Donald owned the Southwest Cycle Kawasaki shop in Miami before retiring to the mountains of North Georgia. He was a member of the Blue Ridge Photography Club, a local square-dancing group and enjoyed woodworking, motorcycles and gardening.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Mildred Jones; special friend, Peggy Riggins; father, Clarence Jones; mother, Alma Jones; brother, Baynard Jones; and sister, Doris Jones.

He is survived by his daughter, Shelby (Frank) Simonini; son, Norman Ussery; and nephews, Junior (Benita) Jones and David Jones.

Funeral services were held Saturday, June 11, 2022, at 3:15 p.m. at Henry-Cochran Funeral Home with Rev. Michael McCormack officiating. Music was provided by Penny Lepard. Military Honors  was provided by the North Georgia Honor Guard.

Interment will followed in the Morganton Baptist Cemetery. The following gentlemen served as pallbearers: Frank Simonini, Jed Lyles, Tyler Bonds, Tim Hicks and John Hicks.

The family received friends at Henry-Cochran Funeral Home Saturday,  June 11, 2022, at 2:30 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, please direct memorials in Donald’s name to the Disabled American Veterans or the St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
