D.O. Bigham Jr.

(1921 - 2019)

David Octavis (D.O.) Bigham Jr., age 98, passed away peacefully at his home Wednesday, October 16, 2019. He was born in Turtletown, Tennessee February 9, 1921, to David Octavis Bigham Sr. and Nora Lee Torrence Bigham. He was one of 10 children. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wives, Magdalene Smith Bigham and Betty Cook Bigham; and several brothers and sisters.

He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, David and Darlene Bigham of the home; one grandson, Jared Bigham of Turtletown; and four great-grandchildren, Cade, Maleia, Starleigh and Maverick Bigham.

He served as a Machine Gun Crewman in the Third Infantry Battalion, First Special Marine Brigade during World War II. He was a Machinist/Troubleshooter with Tennessee Copper Company and later Cities Service. He was a member of Epworth Baptist Church.

At his request, there will be no funeral. He will be buried at the National Cemetery in Chattanooga, Tennessee. Serenity Funeral Home of Cleveland was in charge of arrangements.
