Mrs. Dianne McClain Herndon, age 72, of Blue Ridge, passed away January 27, 2020, in the PruittHealth Skilled Nursing and Rehab in Blue Ridge. She was born in Miami, Florida, to the late Allen French McClain III and Anita Nash McClain.
Dianne loved God, her family, animals and the company of people. She loved to read her Bible and share what she had learned. In her earlier years she loved planting a garden and flowers. She loved bird watching in her later years and could tell you every type of bird she saw. She enjoyed the simple things that so many takes for granted. If you saw her you were greeted with a smile. Most of her witty years were spent working at the Fannin Inn. She was a long-time member of First Baptist Church. Dianne was also preceded in death by a brother, Alan McClain IV.
Survivors include her children, Carl Foresman (Debbie) of Atlanta, Georgia, Shelly Herndon Mathis (Charlie Jr.) of Epworth, Bryan Herndon (Breona) of Morganton and Rob Carver (Trisha) of Knoxville, Tennessee; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Harold and Marie Herndon of Blue Ridge; and grandchildren, Aidan Sutch, Jacob Foresman, Jonah Foresman, Ella Foresman, William Herndon, Isiah Herndon, Kwade Carver and Charlsie Carver.
Memorial services were conducted Saturday, February 1, 2020, from the Akins Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. David Whitener officiating. Music was provided by Lisa Stanley and Brian Huffman.
Interment followed in the Chastain Memorial Park Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital online at www.stjude.org.
