Clyde E. Cruse, age 79, of Morganton, passed away Monday morning, January 27, 2020, at his home following an extended illness. Clyde was born August 1, 1940, in Morganton, to the late F. C. Cruse and late Rose Allen Cruse. He was a member of Concord Baptist Church. Clyde worked most of his life in the family sawmill business that his father started in 1942. He enjoyed fishing, deer hunting and Jeep riding, but his favorite pass time was joking with his friends and family.
Survivors include wife, Cathy Kendall Cruse; son, Kelly (Jennifer) Cruse; sisters, Geneva Cheek and Kathy Cruse; brother, Wayne Allen (Helen) Cruse; grandchildren, Olivia (Jeremiah) Chastain, Alex Miller and Bailey Bellow; and great-grandchildren, Joseph Chastain, Makenzie Chastain, Autumn Chastain and Avery Bright.
Funeral services were conducted Wednesday, January 29, 2020, from the Concord Baptist Church with the Rev. Adam Fleming and the Rev. Eric Davenport officiating. Music was provided by Joseph Chastain, Kimberly and Jordan Thompson. Pallbearers were Scott Cruse, Steve Cruse, Mason Cruse, Jeremiah Chastain, Donnie Kendall and Charlie Williams.
