Charles Young

Charles Earnest Young, age 89, of Morganton, passed away Saturday, February 5, 2022.

Charles was born September 19, 1932, to his late parents Herman and Lucile Eva (Atkins) Young. Charles was a graduate of Gilmer County High School. Charles was employed by Young’s TV Repair. Charles was a member and a Deacon at Rock Creek Baptist Church. He is preceded in death by his wife Venalee Green Young.

Survivors include daughter, Sherry and Bryan Wright, of Morganton; son, Joey and Bernice Young, of Blue Ridge; grandchildren, Kaytie and Shane Dilbeck, Austin Wright, Dillon and Destiny Wright; great-grandchildren, Barrett Dilbeck, Emmaline Dilbeck, Mackenzie Ashmore and  Allison Wright; brother, Jerry and Pat Young, of Sweetwater, Texas; sister, Selma Helton, of Cherry Log; Trudy Page-Leflore, of Jasper, Georgia; sister-in-law Joyce Young, of Ellijay, Georgia; special friends, Jennings Young, Barrett Dilbeck, Bud and Robin Kirby, of Morganton; and several nieces and nephews also survive.

Visitation was held Wednesday, February 9, 2022, from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the funeral home. Funeral service was held Thursday, February 10, 2022, at 2 p.m. at Rock Creek Baptist Church with Rev. Tony Gilbert officiating. Interment will follow in the Rock Creek Baptist Church Cemetery. Dillon Wright, Austin Wright, Micah Gilbert, Samuel Gilbert, Brian Roper and Mark Hice are serving as pallbearers.
