Carl Holcombe

Carl James Holcombe Jr., age 79, of McCaysville, passed away Wednesday, February 16, 2022, at his home.

He was born in Cherokee County, Georgia, January 28, 1943 to the late Carl James Holcombe Sr. and Colleen Glover Holcombe. Carl served in the United States Air Force and later retired from GE and Coca-Cola, where he was a truck driver. He is preceded in death by his parents; stepdaughter, Lynn Shirley; and sister, Carolyn Grimes.

Carl is survived by his wife of 34 years, Donna Holcombe; children, Marie (Mitchell) Powell, Carl J. (Carol) Holcombe, Robert (Danielle) Holcombe, Andrew (Beverly) Holcombe, Walter Mull, Angela (Steve) Abrams and Sherry (Matt) Callihan; siblings, Barbara Guffey, David Holcombe, Patricia Carr and Ronnie Holcombe; 24grandchildren, 33 great-grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were conducted Sunday, February 20, 2022, at 2 p.m. from Hipps Chapel Church with Rev. Delmar Davenport officiating. Music was by Hipps Chapel Church Choir.  Interment followed in the church cemetery. Military Honors were provided by the North Georgia Honor Guard. Pallbearers were  C.J. Holcombe, Cody Powell, Domnick Holcombe, Zachary White, Garrison Kreis, Wayne Dawson, Matthew Callihan, Daniel Powell and Christopher Holcombe.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to help defray final expenses.
