Mrs. Birdie Mae Dillard, age 93, of Copperhill, passed away on Thursday, March 19, 2020. She was born on January 18, 1927 to the late Amos Cross and Della Talley Cross. Birdie was a member of Rachel’s Chapel Congressional Holiness Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Hardy Dillard; and sons, Steve Dillard and Charles Thomas Dillard. 

She is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law, Della and Roy Cochran, Sheila and Dee Mickens and Carolyn and Bill Monteith; grandchildren and their spouses, Troy and Melanie Cochran, Donna Hughes, Dee Jr. Mickens, Thomas Mickens, Tammy and Greg Wallace, Mike and Tara Monteith, Pamela Stewart, Justin and Julia Monteith, Julie Ledford, Amanda Dillard, Jeff Dillard, Sharon and Robert Bollinger and Karen Dillard; great-grandchildren, Aaliyah Cochran, Addison Cochran, Koby Shroth, Kendall Hughes, Keaten Mickens, Chase Mickens, Tyler Wallace, Jacob Wallace, Lindsey and Joshua Matheson, Jacob and Emily Monteith, Cody and Kalei Monteith, Ashley and Michael Cochran, Kimberly Stewart, Caroline Monteith, McKenzie Ledford, Chandler Ledford, and Landon Ledford; and great-great-grandchildren, Lane Matheson, Ryleigh Monteith, Emery Monteith, Oaklyn Monteith, Breanna Dillard, Harmony Bollinger, Raven Bollinger and Dustin Brown.

Funeral services were conducted on Saturday, March 21 at 2 p.m. from the Akins Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Joe Kemper officiating. Music was provided by Aaliyah Cochran, Addison Cochran and Kendall Hughes. Interment followed in the Pleasant Hill Baptist Church cemetery. Tyler Wallace, Keaton Mickens, Jacob Wallace, Chase Mickens, Koby Shroth and Jacob Monteith served as pallbearers. Employees of Life Care Center of Copper Basin served as honorary pallbearers.
