William “Bill” Franklin Bandy, 77, of Murphy, North Carolina, passed away Thursday, December 22, 2022, at Parkridge Medical Center in Chattanooga, Tennessee.

Bill was born June 22, 1945, in Murphy to James and Wilma Bandy.

William was preceded in death by his father, James Bandy; mother, Wilma Bandy; brothers, Bo and Leon Bandy.

He is survived by his spouse, Linda Bandy; son,  Jerry (Stacy) Bandy; and daughter, Susan (Keith Guess). He is also survived by sister, Judy Curtis; brother, Ed Bandy; sister,  Carol (Mike) Campbell; and sister-in-law, Janet Bandy. He is also survived by five grandchildren; Josh (Samantha) Bandy, Jacob (Lexie) Bandy, Jenna Bandy (Evan Sneed), Spencer Guess, and Rilee Guess. Bill is survived by five great-grandchildren; Katie Bandy, Maddy Bandy, Millee Bandy, Jaxon Bandy, and Lane Bandy. Several nephews, nieces, and cousins also survive.

Bill was Mason and a lifetime member of the Shriners. He was the owner and operator of Bandy Trucking for 55 years. He enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

A funeral service was held  Tuesday, December 27, 2022, at 2 p.m at Finch-Cochran Funeral Home in McCaysville. Interment followed in Macedonia (Wolf Creek) Baptist Church Cemetery in Murphy, North Carolina.

The following gentlemen served as pallbearers, Josh Bandy, Jacob Bandy, Spencer Guess, Evan Sneed, Greg Arp and Tim Arp.

The family received friends at Finch-Cochran Funeral Home Tuesday, December 27, 2022, from 12 p.m. until 2 p.m.

In Lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Shiners Children’s Hospital or St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital.
