Bertha Foster

Bertha Garland Foster, age 94, of Blue Ridge went home to be with the Lord, Saturday, August 6, 2022.

She was born November 16, 1927, to the late Elisha Garland and Lille Long Garland.

She worked for many years as a sewing machine operator and was a member of McCaysville Gospel Tabernacle.

Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Thomas Foster; a son, Harold Robert Foster; a grandson, Michael William Foster; a granddaughter, Tammy Messer; brothers, Ranzy H. Garland, Lenzie Garland, Brown Garland, Clay W. Garland, and Bobby Garland; and sisters, Hazel Stover, and Elsie Crawford.

She is survived by her children, Donnie William Foster (Martha Lee), Patsy Jane Messer (Benny), Mary Ellen Hunter (Leonard), and Kenneth David Foster (Becky Mosley Taylor); brothers, Lee Garland and Arthur Garland; and a sister, Ellen Garland Martin; and six grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren, and three great great grandchildren. She also leaves behind a host of nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were conducted Monday, August 8, 2022, at 2 p.m. from the Chapel of Akins-Cobb in Blue Ridge with  the Rev. Leonard Hunter officiating.

Interment followed the service at Hipps Chapel Church Cemetery with the following gentlemen serving as pallbearers: Randy Foster, Keith Parrott, Josh Chapman, Jesse Chapman, Matthew Chapman, and James Sevcech. Friends visited with the family prior to the service beginning at 12 p.m. until the funeral hour of 2 p.m.
