Ann Marie Steers, age 86, of Blue Ridge, Georgia, passed away September 13, 2022.

Ann was a devoted and loving member to her entire family.

She was born in the Bronx, New York, June 1, 1936 to the late John Michael and Alice Page Quill.

Ann attended Catholic schools for elementary and high school and graduated from The College of New Rochelle in 1957. She was employed by New York Life for several years until she married Edward Steers in 1962. They settled in Matawan, New Jersey to raise their three children. Ann was a wonderful homemaker who always put her family first.

Ann was a gifted school teacher who always brought passion and creativity to her work. She taught for many years at St. Joseph’s Elementary School in Keyport, New Jersey, where her three children attended. After her children graduated from St. Joseph’s, she began working for Prudential Insurance Company for many years until moving to Georgia in 1993. She then returned to teaching until her retirement in 2008.

She loved meeting people and had the gift of conversation. Ann has always enjoyed being a part of her community. She was a volunteer E.M.T. , a cheerleading coach, an active member of her church, and spent her retirement years volunteering at Habitat for Humanity Restore in Blue Ridge. She had a beautiful singing voice and loved all animals. She was also an avid reader, enjoyed concerts and attending shows.

Survivors include her loving husband of 60 years, Ed Steers; son and daughter-in-law, Jim and Susan Steers of Social Circle, Georgia; two daughters and one son-in-law, Katharine and Thomas Cirrinicione of New York, New York and Elizabeth Steers of Las Vegas, Nevada; grandchildren, Deanna Steers, Gabrielle Steers, Jessica Steers and Matthew Cirrinicione; sisters, Alice Sweeney of New York, New York, Jane Quill and Joan Quill both of Fairfax, Virginia; and other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be held  Friday, September 23, 2022 at 2  p.m. from the Akins-Cobb Blue Ridge Chapel with Father Brendon Doyle officiating.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home prior to the service from 12 p.m. until 2 p.m.
