Ada Jewell Collis Callihan, age 95, passed away at her home Tuesday, October 1, 2019. She was born in Fannin County June 24, 1924, to the late Allen Collis and Gaily Garrison Collis.

Ada was raised in a large family and loved to tell stories about her childhood and all the good times they had together. She loved her family tremendously. Ada was always working in her flowers and her yard was beautiful. Above all, she loved spending time with her family. Ada was a fantastic wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and a woman of great faith who, through the years, had been active in her church, Sunday School and in the church choir. Ada was the oldest member of Mt. Moriah Baptist Church where she had attended all her life. She will be missed very much, but what a life to celebrate.

Ada was preceded in death by her husband, Paul Callihan; daughter-in-law, Shirley Callihan; sisters, Ruth Anderson, Edith Cochran and Grace Callihan; and brothers, Clint Collis, Young Rose, Glen Collis and Earl Collis.

Survivors include her daughters, Gwen (Bob) Butler and Betty (Ed) Hawkins; son, Terry Callihan; grandchildren, Crystal, Joey and Brad; great-grandchildren, Bristol and Joshua; sister, Juanita Schwab; and special friends, Ruth and Martha Callihan.

Funeral services were held at the Henry-Cochran Funeral Home Chapel Saturday, October 5, 2019, with the Rev. Jerry Banks and the Rev. Denny Hawkins officiating. Music was provided by Nancy Watkins and Joel Collis and The Banks Family. Pallbearers were David Land, Larry Sosebee, Lynn Cole, Rick Callihan, Wayne Watkins and Chris Hulsey.

Interment followed in the Mt. Moriah Baptist Church Cemetery.
