Businesses taking steps in face of COVID-19 threat

Individuals and business across Fannin County have been affected and chosen to implement a variety of changes amid the threat of COVID-19. Stores, such as Ingles Market and Wal-Mart, have elected to change their hours of operation at this time. Ingles change the store’s hours to 7 a.m. to 9 p.m.

Fitts, Haight promise close look at purchase

Two Blue Ridge city council members say they are determined to make sure spending $750,000 is in the best interest of the city. Nathan Fitts and Rhonda Haight agreed last week they won’t vote for buying the Highland Baptist Tabernacle property unless their research proves it is necessary.

Deputy escapes serious injury when car rammed

A Morganton man was being held in the Fannin County Adult Detention Center without bond Friday, March 20, after allegedly ramming a deputy sheriff’s patrol car then fleeing from another deputy. Richard Nicholas Head, 29, of 231 Mountain Road, was denied bond by Chief Magistrate Judge Brian Jones.

Warrants paint a tragic description of the crash that claimed the life of two-year-old Cohen Bryson Sunday, March 15, and a history of drunk driving adds to the tragedy. Warrants charging Hunter Ethan Elliott with the crash include charges of DUI/alcohol and homicide by vehicle in the first degree.
