Deal charged in Polk murder

Buell Cody Thomason, 39, is dead, and Rhonda Gayle Deal, 51, of Grassy Creek Road, Copperhill, has been arrested and charged with First Degree Murder. The Polk County 911 Center received a call at approximately 8:31 Friday night, August 22, in reference to a shooting at 266 Grassy Creek Road.

Route approved for Madola detour

While the exact dates are not known, the detour has been approved around work to replace the bridge over Fightingtown Creek on Madola Road. The total length of the detour is about 10.

Safety demands tickets for speed

“We’re going to do what we have to do to keep our kids safe,” Fannin County Sheriff’s Department Captain Darvin Couch said last Friday. With that goal in mind, deputies will begin writing speeding tickets and other traffic citations in school zones.

Fannin scores 41-14 win

The Fannin County Rebels football team took a win in their final preseason scrimmage, 41-14, over the White County Warriors, Friday, August 8. The Rebels were calm and collected, taking an early lead in just six plays with a Cannon Holloway pass to Judah Wood.
