Watch the prize and change the world

Do you ever think about how the decisions you make or the actions you take affect other people? Sure, this encompasses little things like our behavior while shopping, driving or eating out, but I’m more talking about how our life decisions ripple across the community creating action in others.

One big example, for Mike and me, is starting CrossFit Plant City. When we built it from the ground up, I knew we’d be helping people lead healthier lives, physically, but I didn’t fully see the depth of how it would enrich the lives of our members. Since our first day of having classes in our home garage for a handful of fine folks, CFPC now has well over 100 members working out in a 3,000 square foot warehouse gym and has produced at least ten other fitness trainers.

My favorite change to see in people, though, when working with them is their confidence and outlook on life. Watching them become more happy, more steady, more emotionally, mentally and spiritually healthy is truly amazing to witness.

I’m so proud of Carol, our good friend and one of those very first people to start with us in our garage, who took the helm of our gym. We began it, but she is the one who was meant to take it to the next level, and I’m so proud of her and all of the coaches and members.

Another example is the recent Teacher of the Year banquet here in Fannin County. Board of Education Chairman Lewis Deweese spoke about how teachers provide “eureka” moments to students who then go on to change the world. Additionally, board member Mike Cole spoke of the importance of not becoming stagnant but continuing to learn and grow and bring about change in yourself and others.

Do you have a dream of starting your own business? Of singing? Of writing a book? Starting a ministry? Volunteering? Is something on your heart to do?

If so, don’t wait any longer. Take a long hard look at what you can adjust in your life to begin working toward that goal. Take those tiny first steps and walk into God’s purpose for your life.

For those of you who have already stepped out, be bolstered by how far you have come and by how you’ve helped others in their lives. I know it’s a challenge sometimes but don’t grow weary of well doing. Don’t grow weary of another day of not enough sales/growth/success. Keep placing one foot in front of the other and keep your eyes on the prize and know that you are making a difference. You, my friend, may change the world.
