BACK THE BLUE GROWS

Bracelets, meals say thanks to law officers

Almost 300 Back the Blue bracelets and 25 meals for local law enforcement officers. Those were the totals at the end of last week as Lacey Holloway continued her effort to show those who protect us that they are appreciated.

In just a little over a week, Holloway, with a little help, has made 228 bracelets and another 67 bracelets have been ordered and are in the works.

The 25 meals have gone to members of the McCaysville Police Department, Blue Ridge Police Department and Fannin County Sheriff’s Office.

Lacey’s mother, Brittany, said, “We have had so many donations and will continue to purchase meals as long as we have the support.”

When Lacey first talked about her plans to make the black and blue wrist bracelets, she said she had no idea where the effort would lead. “I’m going to see where it leads me,” she said.

She sells her two-color creations for $2 each, with half the money going to a meal for an officer and the rest buying supplies and mailing the bracelets. Donations are used for the meals.

An order form is on Brittany Holloway’s Facebook page. There is also a spot to suggest a specific law enforcement officer to receive a meal. Or, email garsgirl22@gmail.com.
