EDITORIAL: Postell deserves thanks, changes must be made

Hats off and congratulations to Anita Postell for a job well done.

Postell is the mother of three children, ages 3, 4 and 6, who brought the contents of a so-called children’s book, “A Day in the Life of Marlon Bundo,” to the light of day. Postell was determined to make sure everyone knew what the book was about. She didn’t want anyone else to be surprised by its contents. She put her determination to work.

The writing promotes a homosexual lifestyle and is heavy with political satire. Such has no business in the hands of the youngest of our society.

Postell discovered what the book was about when she was reading it as a bedtime story to her three children. Here again she gets a thumbs up for taking this kind of time with her youngsters. Parents should take notice.

The fact the book made its way into the hands of a child and the path it took to get there leaves the door wide open for harsh criticism, name calling, the blame game and finger pointing. Just the fact an adult was so vile as to produce the work is bad enough and a good place to start.

But everyone involved locally should get past the fact this did happen and make sure it never happens again. Face it, everyone who had a hand in the process, all the way from the person who donated the book until it reached the child, was part of the problem. This makes every one involved part of the solution, which is where the focus should now be placed. If such an incident never happens again, then these folks will deserve a vote of confidence for a job well done, just like Anita Postell.
