Mrs. Wanda Lou Ledford Russell, age 73, passed away at Sonshine Manor in Blairsville, Georgia, Wednesday, December 15, 2021.

Mrs. Russell was born in Copperhill, to the late Earl Parker Hughes and Katherine Walden Hughes May 1, 1948. Wanda was preceded in death by her father, Rev. Earl Parker Hughes; husbands, Ted Burtner Ledford and Bobby J. Russell; and grandson, Justin Davenport.

Mrs. Ruessell worked in the McCaysville Community at IGA and Papa’s Pizza. She enjoyed listening to and singing Gospel music. During her time at Sonshine Manor, she enjoyed painting the fingernails of her fellow residents.

Wanda is survived by her mother, Katherine Walden Hughes, of Dallas, Georgia; daughters, Buffy (Fritz) Baugh, of Mineral Bluff, and Robin (Wesley) Davenport, of Epworth; sister, Joyce (Fred) Bandy, of Dallas, Georgia; five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren also survive.

Funeral services were held Saturday, December 18, 2021, at 1 p.m. from the Finch-Cochran Funeral Home Chapel, with Rev. Wesley Davenport and Rev. Gary Parris officiating. Rev. Wayne Morgan will provide music for the service.

Interment followed in Crestlawn Cemetery. The following gentlemen will serve as pallbearers: Micah Baugh, Johnathan Berrier, Junior Pittman, Justin Monteith, Fred Bandy and Tony Ledford. The family requested that Sonshine Manor and Homestead Hospice staff serve as honorary escorts.

The family received friends at the Finch-Cochran Funeral Home Friday, December 17, 2021, from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Flowers were accepted, or donations can be made to Sonshine Manor, 81 Welborn Street, Blairsville, Georgia 30512 in memory of Wanda.

Arrangements were entrusted to the Finch-Cochran Funeral Home, of McCaysville.
