Mary Lou Millsaps

Mary Lou Millsaps, age 78, passed away Thursday, September 30, 2021, in Ellijay, Georgia.

She was born March 16, 1943, in Fannin County, to Floyd Millsaps and Myrtle Millsaps. She graduated from the Georgia School of the Deaf in 1965. Mary Lou retired from Levi Strauss, where she worked for 19 years as a seamstress. She was of the Baptist faith. She loved Hallmark Christmas ornaments, cats, puzzles, movie magazines and watching television. Mary Lou was loved by her family and will be greatly missed.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Myrtle Millsaps Ash and Floyd Millsaps; and sister, Lola Mae Pelfrey.

Mary Lou is survived by her sisters, JoAnn (Ken) Andrews, of Duluth, Georgia, Linda (Bob) Buchanan, of Canton, Georgia, Jan (Nano) Millsaps, who lives in RV, and Debbie (Roger) Queen of Ellijay; brothers, Bobby (Polly) Millsaps, of Mineral Bluff, and Tommy (Wanda) Millsaps, of Blue Ridge; brother-in-law, Donnie Pelfrey, of McCaysville; aunt, Reathel Bryan; uncle, Jack Mathis; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were conducted Sunday, October 3, 2021, at 4 p.m. from the Akins Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Delmar Davenport officiating.

Interment followed in the Millsaps Baptist Church Cemetery. Mary Lou’s nephews served as pallbearers.
