Mary Jo Collins, age 89, of Morganton, passed away Tuesday, May 11, 2021, in Jasper, Georgia.
Mrs. Collins was born February 27, 1932, in Dial, Georgia, to the late Henry Clay Kendall and the late Stella Lee Kendall. She was preceded in death by her husband, Floyd Clinton Collins; sister, Betty Jean Mitchell; brother, Bob Kendall; sisters, Violet Kendall and Dale Lord; and brothers, Larry Kendall and Von Kendall. Mrs. Collins traveled with her husband Floyd on the “Traveling Medicine Show” for many years performing across the country. Mary Jo enjoyed quilting and spending time with her family. She will be missed by her family and all who knew her.
Survivors include her sons, Charles (Berta) Collins and Weyland (Leigh) Collins; brothers, Vick Kendall and Jerry Kendall; sister, Dorothy Griffin; brother, Barney Kendall; sister, Laura Lee Bramlett; grandchildren, Joshua Collins, Jessica Collins, Suzi Mashburn, Samantha Collins and Stefanie Cornelius; step-grandchildren, Cory Allen and Eric Allen; great-grandchildren, Justin Mashburn and Winston Cornelius; step-great-grandchildren, Jaxon Allen and Bentley Allen; great-great-grandchild, Braelynn Grace Mashburn; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held Thursday, May 13, 2021, at 3 p.m. at the Henry-Cochran Funeral Home with the Rev. Tim Garrett officiating.
Interment followed in the Concord Baptist Church Cemetery. Pallbearers were Joshua Collins, Kevin Collins, Eric Sowers, Nathan Sowers, Justin Mashburn and Greg Cornelius.
The family received friends at the Henry-Cochran Funeral Home of Blue Ridge, Thursday, May 13, 2021, 1 p.m. to 3 p.m.
