Marie Joy Bryant, age 92, of Mineral Bluff, passed away Saturday, December 4, 2021, at the Union County Nursing Home in Blairsville, Georgia.

She was born December 25, 1928, in Copperhill, to the late Ellard Allen and Flora Watts Allen. Marie was a faithful member of Culberson Baptist Church. She worked many years with Copper Basin Medical Center as a nurse assistant and lastly, she worked with Copper Basin High School in the lunchroom for a number of years. Marie enjoyed cooking and quilting. She was very musically inclined and could literally play any instrument. Marie was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Henry Clay Bryant; son, Jeffrey Prince; granddaughter, Rhonda Thomas; and siblings, Winfred Allen, Jade Allen, Madyline Miller, Margie Anderson, Virginia Elliott, Pat Prince, Edna Barnett and Bernice McHan.

Survivors include sons and daughters-in-law, Ronald and Diane Prince, of Hiram, Georgia, Michael and Wanda Prince, of Mineral Bluff, and Danny and Peggy Prince, of Cleveland, Tennessee; daughter, Sharon McFadder, of Kentucky; step-sons, Larry and Bryant, of Knoxville, Tennessee, David Bryant, of Oak Ridge, Tennessee, and Bryan Bryant, of Oak Ridge; grandchildren, Timothy Prince, Matilda Prince, Matthew Prince, Micah Prince, Marty Prince, Penny McCaskill, Tonya Calfee and Jessica Ensley; 19 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral services were conducted Thursday, December 9, 2021, at 2 p.m. from the Akins Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Larry Weaver officiating. Music was by Ann Prince.

Interment followed in the Macedonia Baptist Church Cemetery, Wolf Creek Road, Murphy, North Carolina, with a white dove release. Pallbearers were Matthew Prince, Micah Prince, Tim Prince, Marty Prince, Dylan Brown and Dakota Green. The family received friends at the funeral home Thursday, from noon until the funeral hour of 2 p.m.
