Louise Queen, age 93 of Blue Ridge, passed away December 5, 2021, in Blue Ridge.

Ms. Queen was born May 5, 1928, in Morganton, to the late Ola Brunner Hooper and the late Meta Adams Hooper. A member of Wilscot Baptist Church, she was preceded in death by her husband, Pearly Quince Queen; brothers, Gerald Hooper and Vernon Hooper; and sister, Gail Tankersley.

Ms. Queen belonged to the Morganton Homemaker Club, was active in the PTA and worked as a substitute teacher. She also worked the Blue Ridge Harvest Sale for many years and enjoyed crafts, sewing, crocheting rugs, traveling, gardening and reading (especially spy novels and murder mysteries). She loved her pets and loved her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and the rest of her family.

Survivors include son, David Queen; daughter, Elaine (Howell) Bruce; son, Lynn Lee (Angela) Queen; daughter, Susan (William) Bozemen; brother, Junior (Myrtle) Hooper; sisters, Brenda Lewis and Connie (Mike) Ellis; grandchildren, Howell Bruce Jr., Kevin Bruce, Samuel Queen, Stewart Queen and Chasity Tibbetts; great-grandchildren, Rachel and Collin Bruce, A.J. and Quin Bruce, Josie Queen, Elias Tibbetts and Frank Serota; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were held Thursday, December 9, 2021, at 2 p.m. at the Henry-Cochran Funeral Home, of Blue Ridge, with the Rev. Eric Davenport officiating. Music was provided by Margaret Crawford and Teresa Ross.

Interment followed in the Concord Baptist Church Cemetery. Pallbearers were Howell Bruce, Kevin Bruce, Stewart Queen, Jack Queen, Danny Tipton and Sam Queen.

The family received friends at the Henry-Cochran Funeral Home, of Blue Ridge, Wednesday, December 8, 2021, from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m.

Memorial donations in honor of Ms. Queen can be made to the Alzheimer’s Association and to the Blue Ridge Humane Society.

Arrangements were entrusted to the Henry-Cochran Funeral Home, of Blue Ridge.
