Mr. Leeman Henry, age 72, of Blue Ridge, passed away Thursday, December 30, 2021, at his residence.
Mr. Henry was born in Fannin County March 12, 1949, to the late Bill McCunkey and Dessie Mae Warren. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one great grandchild, Master Jaxson Thomas Henry.
He was employed by the Gilmer County Sheriff’s Department for many years as a deputy sheriff.
Mr. Henry was a proud member of the River Hill Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Karen Bain Henry of the home; two sons, Chad Henry of Blue Ridge and Ricky (Tammy) Henry of Blue Ridge; two daughters, Shannon (Kevin) Dye of Blue Ridge and Vicky (Buck) Long of Blue Ridge; nine grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren also survive.
A private funeral service was held Sunday, January 2, 2022, at 1 p.m. from the chapel of Bernhardt Funeral Home with Rev. Russell Hood officiating.
Interment followed in the Yukon Cemetery. Pallbearers included: Tommy Hunter, Ken Petty, Eldridge Harper, Harold Patterson, Jonathan Bane, Dawson Millsaps, and Honorary Pallbearer Eddie O’Neal.
The family received friends Sunday, January 2, 2022, from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully asks that donations be made to the Yukon Cemetery Fund at P.O. Box 466, Ellijay, Georgia.
