Josephine Jones

Mrs. Josephine “Jo” Jones, age 86, of Epworth, passed away September 3, 2020, in Blue Ridge. She was born in Blue Ridge May 16, 1934, to the late Green Barry McVey and Dora Conley McVey. 

Jo was a loving wife, mother and grandmother who loved cooking for her family. She especially loved her canine companions. She was a long time member of the Sugar Creeks Baptist Church, however in recent years she had attended Mount Moriah Baptist Church. 

Her daughter, Cheri Jones precedes her in death.

Survivors include her husband of 58 years, Ernest Jones of the home; son and daughter-in-law, the Honorable Brian and Angela Jones of Epworth; one brother and sister-in-law, Jimmy and Barbara McVey of Ellijay, Georgia; grandchildren, Justin Payne, Josh Jones, Zackery Jones; great-grandchildren, Kyle Jones and Jacie Jones; and many nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends. 

Funeral services were conducted Sunday, September 6, 2020, at 4 p.m. from the Akins Funeral Home of Blue Ridge chapel with the Rev. Jerry Banks officiating. Music was provided by her nieces and nephews. Interment followed in the Sugar Creek Baptist Church cemetery with the Rev. Delmar Davenport officiating. Serving as pallbearers were: Justin Payne, Josh Jones, Zackery Jones, Al Jones, Ryan Norton and Todd Pack. Kyle Jones was an honorary pallbearer.
